ASP and FrontPage

How can I use ASP to write to my account with the FrontPage extensions installed?... see below?

How do I use the Database Results Wizard to create a writeable "fpdb" folder for my Access database?

*** First of all, make sure your computer is logged on to the Internet! ****

Open FrontPage

Under 'File', click 'Open Web'.

type in 'http://www.yourdomain.com' at the bottom of the window
(replacing “yourdomain.com” with the actual name of your Website.)

Click 'Open'

Enter your username and password and click on 'OK'

You should now be logged-on, and the folders in your remote directory will be displayed. Please click on 'Open' again to have your full remote directory displayed.

Your full directory should now be displayed, including any files that you have uploaded, under the heading 'Folder list'.

Make a new page by clicking on "File", "New" and then "Page". Now double click on this new page and make sure that the new file that you just created is selected and the cursor is blinking on the right hand side of the screen on the new page.

You now want to create a sample database using the database wizard - you will eventually delete this sample database but the goal is to create the "fpdb" folder properly. Select "Insert" from the FrontPage menu of options and choose "Database". Now select "Results..."

There are five steps to creating the "fpdb" folder using the Database Results Wizard. Use the default setting for each step by simply clicking on "Next" in steps 1-4 and then click on "Finish" in step 5.

The result should be the creation of an "fpdb" folder and a global.asa file. You may delete the sample database in the "fpdb" folder and the original new file you created at the beginning of this process as it will have unnecessary sample table information. Do not delete the global.asa file as this file is essential to maintaining write permissions for the "fpdb" folder.

Now you may upload your database into the "fpdb" folder and the Access file should automatically have write permissions with read access restricted.

If you need a DSN set up to use in your scripts which access the database, please write to techsupport@render-vue.net, and we will create a system DSN. You may reference this DSN name in your scripts to link your database file to the ODBC driver so that you may issue and execute database commands remotely.
