We are a web design and web hosting provider. What are some of the tools and features Render-Vue provides?
Virtual Hosting is an option that allows a company or individual to lease part of a server to store their website's data, rather than pay for an entire machine with more space than they need. As part of our virtual hosting we provide either a dedicated IP address or a shared IP. Can I access my domain address without the "www"? Yes, you can access your domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. The "www" is a tertiary domain name that isn't necessary if your nameserver is set up properly. How long does it take to set up my account? Your account will be set up usually within 12 hours max depending on work load. Will my Macintosh work with my Render-Vue account? Yes. Our servers use standard protocols such as FTP, SSH, and HTTP that are compatible with Macintosh operating systems. Do you host foreign domain names? Yes. All domain names will work with Render-Vue accounts. What things do you not support?

All of our servers have direct access to three backbones; Frontier GlobalCenter, Qwest Communications, and Genuity, a division of GTE. This means fastest speed possible and greater reliability. GC, a Tier 1 provider whose 13,000-mile fiber optic network and Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology provide an enormous 460 gigabytes per second (Gbps) of capacity worldwide, has an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) fiber node located just a few floors below Render-Vue's servers. Qwest comes into Baltimore with an OC-12 line and plans to upgrade their connection to an OC-48 in the near future. They also have an ATM fiber node floors below Render-Vue's servers. Our Qwest connection enablesender-Vue to offer additional redundancy and better routes to Europe, Latin America and Asia. With our carriers, our router has up to 150,000 possible routes to send each packet of traffic. Genuity, a division of GTE, is our third Tier One Internet backbone. Genuity provides excellent network performance as a result of their high-speed peering arrangements with other Tier One Internet backbone providers. The GTE global network delivers customers directly onto the Internet via a high-speed connection to its private, super-capacity backbone, including 17,000 miles of fiber and OC192 capacity. It is comprised of more than 800 U.S. local access points and approximately 1,500 international local access points in more than 150 countries. Do you offer dial-up Internet access? No, you must provide your own Internet access. We would suggest a provider that inclused an SMTP service. Can you design my web site for me? Yes we certainly can. For more details contact us sales@render-vue.net Whom may I contact for technical help? First, try our online support site. If you can not find the information you need, use our support request form to contact our technical support team. Do you have a database system? You can use MySQL, SQL, MS Access, Cold Fusion, Oracle, dbase and Foxpro. Can I run two cron tasks to update pages daily? Yes, you can run up to two cron tasks to update pages daily. Do you support VRML 1.0 and 2.0 mime types wrl and mus? We support these. You can set your own mime types with your .htaccess file. Go through your control Panel (dependant on hosting plan). Do you offer backward compatibility browser detection? Yes, we offer backward compatibility browser detection. Does each virtual server have its own raw log files? Yes. You have your own raw log files (dependant on hosting plan). What version of Perl does Render-Vue use? We try to ensure that we have the latest Perl modules available on the servers. SSI is on all of our servers. You just need to be sure that you call your files with the .shtml extension. Do Render-Vue servers support IMAP? Some of o ur servers are not configured to be able to support IMAP. IMAP is possible, however, for only the main username of the account. We cannot provide any support other than turning on your access to IMAP. If you would like this, please let us know where you connect from and we will make an ftp connection to the server. We have to open a port for the location/s that you can connect to the server from. Customers who purchase a cPanel planel will have access to IMAP. Can I access my domain securely? Yes. Your web site can be accessed securely using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) depending on which hosting account you choose. Do you charge additional fees for hosting a secure web site? Yes and No Render-Vue members can have access to a server-wide certificate. Having your own SSL certificate does cost extra and on some of the hosting plans you can even create your own self signed certificates, again this is dependant on which hosting plan you have chosen. Can I set up forms for secure transmission? Yes. There is no extra charge as long as you have a secure certificate set-up for the account. Can we set up password protected areas with htaccess? Yes you can set up password protected areas but only on Unix hosting plans. Can I pay with credit card or do I need to issue a cheque? Either is fine. However if you pay by cheque you must pay the plan
on a annual basis. If you need to pay by cheque please email sales
first. When you say annually, do you mean pay you all the money up front, or pay monthly for one year? You must pay the full year at once in order to receive the yearly discount. If you choose to pay annually we will give you 12 months hosting for the price of 10. What does it cost to transfer a domain name? There is no fee for transferring your domain to and from Render-Vue. This is done either by yourself or the sites designer, usually through the registration service that the domain name was purchased from. Do you charge additional fees for using the mySQL database? No. It is included in the majority of hosting plans and on some of our hosting plans we provide unlimited databases.. CGI scripts (Common Gateway interface) are used to provide things like counters, form responses, guest books, and many other things. Render-Vue gives you full CGI access for no extra charge! You can write your own scripts, install someone else's, or use one of our preinstalled CGI scripts. Do you provide a CGI-BIN personal directory? Yes, a CGI-BIN is provided. You can run your own cgi or perl scripts on your web site by putting them in your personal cgi-bin directory. Keep in mind that we do not allow any script or program that will allow any sort of remote connectivity to your domain. What cgi scripts are preinstalled? Dependant on hosting plan. Which languages are supported in CGI (e.g. Bourne shell, Perl, Java)? Bourne, Shell, and Perl are all supported and available. Render-Vue does not offer Java support at this time. A domain name is a registered name that identifies your company or person on the Internet It is a highly coveted identification which can make a huge difference on how well you are known on the Internet. How long does it take to register my domain? This process can take up to five (5) days but usually takes one (1) from the time the registration is submitted. While your domain is undergoing registration, you can still publish and view your web site by accessing the ip number assigned. This number is available in the Welcome Letter you received from us at the time the account was created. A parked domain is pointed to an already existing web site. This is most commonly seen with companies registering "mycompany.com, mycompany.net, mycompany.org" and all of them going to the same web site. Network Solutions is an independent organization responsible for holding the registration and routing of Internet domain names. There are many other companies providing the same service now. Networksolutions (Netsol) have now been taken over by Verisign. What programs can be used to access e-mail? All POP clients can be used: pine, elm, Netscape mail, Outlook, etc. You can use any program which downloads the files from our server onto your computer. You can use mail user agents which run on our servers (such as pine), with a special configuration. You cannot use IMAP programs. What is an e-mail alias and is it unlimited? An e-mail alias means if you send mail to webmaster@render-vue.net, that address is aliased to whomever needs to receive it. It can be one person or multiple people, however you need it structured. It is unlimited--get as many as you need for no extra charge! May I promote my Render-Vue’s web site with bulk e-mail? Spamming is in violation of our service agreement. There are legal and ethical issues involved in mass mailing of unsolicited e-mail. Any user of our services who has sent a large number of unsolicited e-mail will have their account closed within 24 hours. Please read the appropriate AUP (acceptable user policy) you could end up being fined US$550.00 per reported incident. How can I manage my e-mail users (add/remove/update)? To add or delete POP boxes, use the hosting plans Mail/Web Manager. You can redirect mail by editing the address, un-forwarding to the POP box (which deletes it if that's the only reference to it) and forwarding to whatever e-mail address you desire. Do I have access to my own FTP space? Yes - 24 hour access. Do you have FTP and FTP Anonymous access? Yes, we provide both FTP and FTP Anonymous access with the majority of accounts. Dependant on hosting plan please check with support. Do you have a limit on the FTP transfer? No. There is no limit. You can update your pages an unlimited amount of times, at any time you wish. Are your servers
connected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Yes. They are always connected and always monitored. What web server software are you running? We are using Apache on the Linux machines and IIS on the Windows servers. How many client sites are put on each web server? Each server normally hosts approximately 350 users. This number may vary depending on the amount of space and bandwidth each member uses. What operating system are your servers running? Our servers run either a UNIX like Operating System called Linux, or Windows Server. |
